Meaning of “Mark of God”

The “Mark of God”:

Blessings and Protection for You
as a Christian in the 21st Century!

The “Mark” of God is the “Law” of God!

Many Scriptures in Exodus 13 and in Deuteronomy 6, 11 and 28 refer to God’s statutes, commandments and laws –God’s “Law” – being a “sign” on those who are His people. “Sign” in those verses is the English word rendered from the Hebrew word, ‘owth‘Owth in Scripture is also rendered as “mark” (as in Genesis 4:15 when God set a “mark” upon Cain, lest anyone finding him should kill him.) Hence the “Law” of God can also be referred to as the “Mark” of God.

Blessings for You through the Mark (Law) of God

For whatever reasons, many Christians today seem to think that God’s Law is a “bad” or “negative” thing. Many even think God’s Law has somehow been done away with. Quite the contrary! God’s Law still stands and is still a source of blessings for God’s people. Also contrary to what a lot of Christians believe, Christ didn’t come to do away with His Father’s Law. In fact, Christ only added to God’s Law.

One purpose and function of God’s law was – and is – to teach His people “How to Live” – how to live so they might enjoy the best lives possible. Exodus 18:20 says, “And you shall teach them the statutes and the laws, and show them the way in which they must walk and the work they must do.” Some of the blessings of obedience to God’s Law are described in Genesis 26:4-5, Leviticus 26:3-13, Deuteronomy 5:1,9-10,28-29,32-33; 6:1-9; 7:6-14; 8:1-20; 11:1,8-9,13-15; 28:1,13; 30:1-20, 1 Kings 2:3and Psalm 19:7; 37:30-31; 111:10; 112:1.

For example, Deuteronomy 5:33 says, “You shall walk in all the ways which your Lord has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you possess.” In 1 Kings 2:3, David gave the following counsel on his deathbed, “Keep the charge of the Lord your God; to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His judgements and His testimonies…that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn.” Another “must read” for any Christian today is Psalm 119 in which David repeatedly describes the many blessings of striving to keep God’s Law.

So, was God’s Law “done away with” when Christ came? Not at all! Look at what Christ Himself said in Matthew 5:17-18, “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For assuredly I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the Law till all be fulfilled.” That God’s Law (part of God’s Word) is still a blessing for His people – and still a guide for them to live by is emphasized by Christ in Matthew 4:4, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” Note that “every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” includes all of the universal and eternal statutes, commandments, judgements and testimonies of God (the Law of God) as expressed from Genesis through Revelation.

Protection for You through the Mark (Law) of God

God’s Law not only gives His people blessings, it also gives them “protection” – protection against disaster, against disease, against deception (by Satan) and against losing out on salvation and the blessings of eternal life. Leviticus 26, Deuteronomy 6,7,8, 11, 28 and 30 repeatedly describe many of the things that obedience to God and to His Law will protect His people from.

But today there’s an even more ominous hazard that the Mark (Law) of God will protect us from.

One of the direst warnings of all Scripture – directed at those we’d today label as “saved, born-again believers” – is to NOT receive “The Mark of the Beast”. Revelation 14:9-11 says, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or in his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God.”

Today in Christendom there is much confusion and debate as to what this horrendous “Mark of the Beast” really is. Some say it is a computer chip implant. Others say it is a tattoo. A thorough study of Scripture shows that the “mark” of the beast is not a literal mark at all. Very simply, the “mark” of the beast is the subtle, but satanic counterpart to the Mark (or Law) of God. God has His Law – which is His Mark on His people. The beast (described in Daniel and Revelation as being the false church of end-times) has its “law” – which is its “mark” on its people.

The Bible clearly and repeatedly warns that many of those we’d today describe as “saved, born-again believers” will, at the end of time, wittingly or unwittingly “receive the mark of the beast”. As a result, they will be lost for eternity.

The Bible clearly says that, at the end of time, ONLY those who have the “seal / sign / mark” of God will be saved (Revelation 20:4, as well as Revelation 9:4, 14:1, 12 and 22:4, 14). That is the greatest “protection” that the “Mark of God” offers you today!

Discover for Yourself the Blessings and Protection in the Mark (Law) of God

Investigate for yourself the overwhelming scriptural and historical evidence that:

  1. The Mark of God is the Law of God.
  2. The universal and eternal Law of God was never done away with and is still a blessing for Christians in the 21st Century.
  3. To receive the “mark of the beast” is to, wittingly or unwittingly, follow the false laws of the false church of end-times.
  4. The laws of the false church of end-times are rooted, not in the Bible and the Law of God, but in ancient Babylonian paganism.
  5. To receive the “mark of the beast” is also to receive an eternal death sentence.
  6. The ONLY hope of not receiving the mark of the beast and of not being lost for eternity is to have the Mark of God “on” you.
  7. “Having the Mark of God” that leads to eternal life is illustrated in Revelation 22:14, “Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they might have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.”

Clearly, the issue of the Mark of God versus the Mark of the Beast is a matter of life and death – eternal life or eternal death. For more information on the scriptural and historical perspectives on these vital issues, please contact Braden Caldwell
